In 2004, fifteen years later, the second Light Plan added to and enhanced the first. This time around, light was added to the monuments, and was modulated to harmonise with the activities and rhythms of the City, focusing on the rivers, hills, silhouettes and main arterial roads...
Recognized as a distinct art and profession, urban lighting now forms an essential part of the profile of metropolitan Lyon at an international level. Lyonnais “light” companies, designers, artists and architects are sought around the world and their talents prized at prestigious sites: the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, the Castillo del Morro in Havana, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum, the Riadh El-Feth Monument in Algiers, the Menara in Marrakesh and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.
Specific light training has been developed in parallel with this engineering (professional licence “Lighting design management”, for example), and has a national events presence.
