20 place des Terreaux, Lyon 1
Its rich collection of works of art makes it one of the most important European museums. 75 rooms specially refurbished rooms inside a former 17th century abbey, listed as a historic monument, contain paintings, sculptures, precious objets d’art and antiquities.
From Egyption sarcophagi to Picasso paintings, including paintings by Veronese, Rubens, Rembrandt, Gericault, Rodin, Gauguin, Renoir and Cezanne, the Lyon Fine Arts Museum provides a panoramic view of over 5,000 years of art history.
To mark the Fête des Lumières Festival, the museum provides thematic tours on Light in painting, a tour in the painting collections from the 14th to the 20th century, to observe the role of light in painting.
